North Carolina Title Insurance Rates
In North Carolina title insurance rates must be filed with and approved by the Department of Insurance. The North Carolina Rating Bureau files these rates on behalf of the title industry so that the rates approved are uniform. New rates filed by the Rating Bureau and became effective March 1, 2020 are as follows: Standard Rates Rates For Title Insurance Insured Closing Letters Rate Per Thousand Rate Per Thousand Up to $100,000 $2.54 Up to $100,000 $0.63 100,001 to 500,000 1.98 $100,001 - $500,000 $0.12 500,001 to 2,000,000 1.29 $500,001 and above, add $0.00 2,000,001 to 7,000,000 0.99 7,000,001 and above 0.69 Additional Rates The minimum premium for a policy of title insurance shall be $51.00. Simultaneous Issue Rate: There is a premium of $26.00 for each Loan Policy that is issued simultaneously with an Owner's Policy. Commitment Premium. A Commitment charge of $15.00 will apply to a Commitments issued for an Owner's Policy, a Loan Policy or an Owner's Policy that includes a single Loan Policy (ie, a simultaneous issue). An additional $15.00 premium will be charged for each additional loan that is insured in the same Commitment. Cancellation of Commitment. There will no commitment fees charged for commitments that are cancelled. Reissue Rates When a policy has been issued on Identical Land within fifteen (15) years, the rate shall be 50% of the Regular Rate up to the amount of the previous policy. Regular title insurance rates shall apply to amounts in excess of the prior policy amount. When a policy has been issued to a Subdivider/Developer/Builder within fifteen (15) years, the rate shall be 50% of the Regular Rate up to the sales price of the individual lot, unit, or tract subdivided from the land originally insured. Endorsement Rates If any of the following endorsements are requested to be issued, a charge of $21.00 for each endorsement issued will be incurred.
